Pupa-Tee Plays Oldies

Science dropped by joppa AKA Arthur Jopparelli. Jun-06-2011

Summer as usual is Reggae Time here at M&J! And of course we are pleasin you with two quality selections: strictly musical jewels picked one by one by a seasoned collector. No easy shortcuts, this time we take you deep into Jamaica’s most refined music productions.

You know what’s the main problem with reggae music? It’s the DJs: most of them usually keep playin the same tunes over and over. I went to hundreds of reggae nights only to hear the same 50 songs…what a lack of originality. But that is definitely not the case here.

This time on the wheels of steel is Pupa-Tee’s turn, he is an experienced selector, and one half of legendary italian sound system Skoolbwoy Hi-Fi (check another incredible mix on the same tip here). He is not going for the easy road when he plays records, but rather he is going to show you how deep his crates are. Let’s take a trip back to the Studio One, shall we?

So there you go with a lot of obscure tunes straight from the golden age of Reggae Music. Expect elegant dub sessions, deep basslines, crazy talk-overs, hypnotic percussions, soulful takes, vinyl crackles, deep reverbs and a lot of dust.

This two-volumes reggae mixtape is everything you need for your summer meditation.
