UGK – Trill Azz Mixes: Southern Rap At Its Best

Science dropped by Martini & Jopparelli. Jan-16-2007

Who says good rap music in the 90′s was only from east coast and west coast? The south coast had some extra-dope hip hop music too.

The Geto Boys, the UGK posse and the early Outkast, to name a few, started that dirty south shit which became famous in the 2ks. For those of you who still never heard of the UnderGround Kings, time has come to discover this explosive rap duo from Texas.

This incredible mixtape sums up their career in 60 minutes of raw, slow, soulful hypnotic southern funk. See the details about this release here. An amazing mix of awesome instrumentals and on the rappin side, Pimp C and Bun B’s flow is terrific. Soul legend Ron Isley singin with the UGK in the last track tells all about the flava of this mixtape.

(After all, sampling good music is not an east coast exclusive: back in the days, even the south did have a couple of good tunes to sample from, if i recall correctly… ;-) )

  1. Pocket Full Of Stones (Blended With Hail Mary Instrumental)
  2. A Kick Doe! (Blended With P.W.A. (Pussy, Weed, & Alcohol Instrumental)
  3. Front Back Side 2 Side (Blended With P.W.A. (Pussy, Weed, & Alcohol Instrumental)
  4. I Left It Wet-4-Ya (Blended With Freaky Tales Instrumental)

  10. Murder (Blended With Southside Instrumental)
  11. Breakem Off Something (Blended With Southside Instrumental)

Judge by yourself, but don’t expect a frenetic mixtape: country boys’ life is soooo slow…..

Another rap tragedy, but it isn’t still 100 on how he passed? they didn’t mention drugs, as what happened to Screw the Godfather in 2000 as a result of codeine prmotheyzine OD.
