RBMA Presents Wandering Feet

Science dropped by Martini & Jopparelli. Apr-21-2009

First of all many thanks to Marty for letting me write this post! One of the things I love about the Martini & Jopparelli Music Selections blog is the range of sounds that feature, and the insight that goes behind the music.

So recently we have Marty sharing a fantastic documentary about Charlie Parker, whilst Joppa sends us in the direction of some fresh new dubstep sounds!

I’d like to let you know about the Wandering Feet podcast which shares this philosophy: not only showcasing great music, but sharing insider knowledge that can really let you understand the artists and their experiences. It is produced by Folded Wing, the production company set up by Gilles Peterson’s former radio producer Karen P. The presenter, Emma Warren, is a member of the Red Bull Music Academy and the podcast displays her take on new music, collaboration and emerging talent with a special UK focus.

In this month’s episode, Emma is joined in the studio by fellow RBMA graduate Fatima who tells us a little about her life, and showcases some exclusive new tracks. Chas Jankel shares an insight into making a number 1 hit record – when he recorded the classic song ‘Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick’ with Ian Dury and The Blockheads, whilst James Pants from leading California hip hop label Stones Throw talks about hunting for samples and making fat bass drum sounds!

And of course, there’s plenty of music, with a brand new track from the incredible collaboration between Mulatu and The Heliocentrics, plus a very special live track from Micachu and the Shapes.
