I guess you have to be an American to appreciate the overall sound of French Hip-hop, not saying you normally wouldn’t but you’re open to other sounds as well that we Americans tend to avoid. so British Hip-Hop can easily be tolerated. French Hip-hop is very similar to our hip-hop which is why most of us find it easier to listen to. British Rap on the other hand is a bit rough and doesn’t have anything going for it. not to mention the accent, which is a huge turn off (at least for those I know, including myself)

you should check out groups like 113. since I don’t understand a word of French I find the language fascinating to listen to, as do many others. I admit we Americans are highly arrogant and don’t give others a chance but British Hip-Hop by default is horrible. I tried to like it. I really did.

this mixtape really shows that old school uk hip hop was very good…almost up to par with the us one…and i’m not talking about dizee or roll deep

I still have to find a french rap tune that bangs like the two UK tunes here.

Besides that, their language is -phonetically speaking- totally unfit to rappin. It just doesn’t sound good. it sounds annoying. Same thing for italian and german rappers.

Guys, give me a couple of tunes you dig as best examples of good french rap, and I’m ready to change my mind!

French rap has a level of craftsmanship which does not exist outside of America…
French rappers in general are almost as good as the Yanks.

Dizzee is a revelation for Hip Hop. When i heard him the first time i was hit like a hammer. Great stuff. Next big thing was the The Cool Kids from Chigago. Hip Hop lives again.
