Few weeks ago, the Mixtape Titan himself, Mr. Mass, came back to earth like Prometheus bringing a big gift for all us poor mortals: the link of all links, a key to an entire universe of dope beats. He revealed us, in his own words, the Internet’s best-kept secret, the Brooklin Radio Website.
This site hosts a lot of podcast shows with a high quality standard from a bunch of very talented dj’s and selectors, playing everything from reggae to disco (and, of course, lots of good hip hop).

My first “five mics” selection from this fantastic site is the one of the latest episodes of the Southern Hospitality Show, called “Back To The Block” (it was actually called “lost and found” and was originally from 2001, brooklyn radio labelled it wrong). You can download their show as a podcast, but if you’re lazy don’t worry, we’ll give it to you here.
This mix is like gettin back to those good cassette tapes from Tape Kingz in the mid-90′s (even if those djs are actually from UK)… All my favourite hip hop ingredients are present: the scratched mixtape intro, the echoed horns, the crazy snare drums, the rare remixes, the sweet soul samples. Hip hop was so great back then.
To all readers: If you got an old, dope mixtape or radio show on cassette (and you don’t have your own blog), why not sharing it with everybody! Why not posting it here! Feel free to contact us, let’s show the new generations how real hip hop sounds!

Check out the Tracklist and take notes!
Favourite track: the Souls Of Mischief “Cab Fare”, featuring a lovely Bob James sample (no, this time it’s neither “Nautilus” nor “Mardi Gras”, it’s a tune called “Angela-theme from taxi” if i recall correctly)
