Two Great Tributes To James Brown: Steinski and Stones Throw

After the James Brown’s death a lot of tribute has been done. Different artists paid their respect to his figure as he was one of the most influential musician of the last century as everybody knows. My personal choice goes to this two amazing mix: The Steinski James Brown tribute and the Stones Throw one.

First one: Steinski (check here to know more about him), a long time James Brown lover. He first was on JB when he dropped along with Double Dee the lesson 2 (listen to lesson 2 here). Lesson 2 was released in 1984 and it was one of the first record sampling James Brown (ok, Afrika Bambaataa was doing that before), so he was a precursor in feeling in JB music something influential for the future music. This mix was recorded at the Tim Sweeney radio show Beats in Space in New York City on WNYU 89.1 FM at the beginning of January. Amazing selection.
LISTEN TO: Steinski Tribute

Stones Throw is synonymous of quality and innovative music. But first of all is synonymous of knowledge and high standard digging. When you got Peanut Butter Wolf, J Rocc and Egon doing a tribute to JB, there is no way out, you are into a great selection. Songs by, sampled from and inspired by the Godfather of Soul.
