Lucio Dalla – Ulisse Coperto di Sale / Timbaland – Indian Carpet / Guru – In Here

After Giorgio Moroder here we go again with another Italian break.
As I am sure everybody knows Moroder, I am not that sure about Lucio Dalla, really popular in Italy but pretty much unknown outside my country. So let’s shortly introduce him. He is without a doubt one of the most important and influential Italian musician. Basically modern Italian music is really poor and I am not here to say Lucio Dalla is brilliant but at least is one of the few musician who really got some music knowledge. His first works are influenced by Jazz and Funk. He is a good clarinetist and is also able to play piano. Again, I am not pushing you in buying some of his works but what I am just trying to say is that at least is better than Eros Ramazzoti e Laura Pausini. Unfortunnaly the two Italians “artists” more popular outside Italy. What a shame for us!!!!!
LISTEN TO LUCIO DALLA ULISSE COPERTO DI SALE

The song Ulisse coperto di sale has been sampled by Timbaland in Indian Carpet. What is really funny is that: while Lucio Dalla sings “Imbiancate” (painted in white or snow-covered ), Timbaland understand “Indian Carpet”. Anyway I got one question for all of you: How has Timbaland came across this old Italian song? He must dig a lot!!!
LISTEN TO TIMBALND & MAGOO INDIAN CARPET

You can find the same sample even in this Guru track:

Lucio dalla rocks!
all the instrumental -chorus included- is based on the lucio dalla track. Timbaland added only a synth sound in the beginning which sounds horrible. and the beat he used for other 50 songs at least.
sorry timbaland but for this time lucio is the man!!!

I am not too much of a Timbaland and Magoo fan, but that beat is HOT!
Obviously the sample is good… but Timbo came through with the good shit.
Props.
